DRUGS & ALCOHOL POLICY

Construction & Rail Solutions Ltd. require that no member of staff or contractor shall report for duty having consumed alcohol or under the influence of drugs, or report for duty in an unfit state due to the use of alcohol or drugs, or be in possession of drugs of abuse in the workplace, or consume alcohol or drugs whilst on duty.

This policy shall be strictly adhered to and any breaches of this Policy will invoke disciplinary procedures and could result in dismissal.

The internal drug and alcohol policy shall be brought to the attention of all employees and sub-contractors as part of their induction and they shall sign to state their understanding of its contents. Construction & Rail Solutions Ltd. ensures that a minimum of 5% of the workforce are tested annually, random testing and “for cause” testing is carried out and IE are advised of a positive result should the situation arise.

Construction & Rail Solutions Ltd. shall endeavour to aid with the rehabilitation of staff who voluntarily seek help for alcohol or drug related problems. Such staff must, however, seek assistance at the earliest possible opportunity.

From time to time all of us suffer ailments for which legally prescribed or available drugs are required, either to rectify the ailment itself or to relieve the symptoms suffered. Whilst in many cases the ailment will be temporary, in others it will be longer-term. Just as with illegal substances, the drugs we take legally will have some form of side effect. It is of importance that, where this side effect is likely to affect your performance in any way, you are to notify Construction & Rail Solutions Ltd.

Our aim is to protect your safety and, in certain cases, it may be necessary to move you to a lower risk activity.

This policy shall be implemented, monitored and reviewed annually, as a minimum.
